چکیده
A fractal coder partitions an image into blocks that are coded via self-references to other parts of the image itself. In this paper we present a fractal coder that derives highly image-adaptive partitions and corresponding fractal codes in a time-eecient manner using a region-merging approach. The proposed merging strategy leads to improved rate-distortion performance compared to previously reported pure fractal coders, and it is faster than other state-of-the-art fractal coding methods.

Image enhancement based on a nonlinear multiscale method
An image enhancement method that reduces speckle noise and preserves edges is introduced. The method is based on a new nonlinear multiscale reconstruction scheme that is obtained by successively combining each coarser scale image with the corresponding modified interscale image. Simulation results are included to demonstrate the performance of the proposed method.
